Jupiters Clouds
This close-up image of Jupiter was taken by NASA's Voyager 2 spacecraft. It shows an shows a region that extends from the equator to the southern polar latitudes. The large red spot is a gigantic storm known as the great red spot. It is a gigantic cyclonic storm that has been raging continuously on the planet for more than 300 years. It is so large that three Earths could fit inside it. The smaller white spot is also thought to be a storm. The swirls in the cloud bands indicates the violent nature of Jupiter's thick atmosphere.
