Uranus the Ice Giant
This image of the planet Uranus was taken by the Voyager 2 spacecraft as it passed the Uranian system in 1986, The spacecraft was nearly 6 million miles from Uranus when this picture was taken. It shows the nearly featureless outer cloud layers of this icy planet. The strong blue-green color of the clouds is caused by methane gas.
