Surface of Venus
This global view of the surface of Venus was captured by the Magellan spacecraft using radar technology. The surface of Venus is covered by a thick layer of clouds with a density over 92 times that of the atmosphere on Earth. Radar is able to penetrate the thick cloud layers of the planet and return high resolution images of the surface. These radar images have revealed many details of the surface that were previously unknown.
