This large 400-page hardcover book is an excellent resource for the beginner. It covers all the basics of aquarium setup, livestock selection, disease diagnosis & treatment, water quality, light, and all of the other necessary basics. This small 208-page hardcover book is quite a little gem. It is arranged in a question and answer format and contains the answers to many of the most commonly asked questions. Julian Sprung and Charles Delbeek are considered by many to be the foremost authorities on reef aquariums. Recommended more for the advanced reef keeper, it goes into depth about water chemistry and reef setup. The book also contains a handy guide to soft and hard corals and tridacna clams.
