This image of a Freckled Hawkfish was captured by NOAA photographers in the waters off the island of Fiji. Also known as a Black-sided Hawkfish, it is one of the more colorful members of the hawkfish family. There are about 35 different species of hawkfish world wide. They eat crustaceans and other small organisms and are popular with aquarium hobbyists due to their bright colors.
