Miniature Sand Dunes
This image shows a field of sand dunes located at the bottom of a large crater on Mars known as Endurance crater. The image was taken by the rover Opportunity as it entered the crater. The dunes in this image are approximately 1 meter (3.3 feet) high. Opportunity was send down into Endurance crater to search for possible evidence that water may have once existed on the red planet.
