Red Sea Fan
The sea fan is named because the many branches intertwine to form a shape similar to a hand-operated fan. Sea fans can frequently be seen on coral reefs waving back and forth in the currents. Each of the little white stars in this image is an individual coral polyp. The polyps live together in what is known as a colony.
