The Jovian System

We next encounter the fifth planet out from the Sun. Here we are presented with an awesome sight. It is a gaseous planet of enormous proportions. We have entered the realm of the gas giants. Brilliant colors of red, brown, and orange form bands and swirls. A faint delicate ring encircles the planet, and many natural satellites of varying sizes can be found in orbit. Recent discoveries have now brought the total number of known moons to 61. Four of these moons are nearly planet-sized. It is a miniature solar system within a solar system. It is the planet Jupiter and its system of moons.
