Moon Mission Insignia

On November 16, 2022, NASA launched their Artemis 1 mission to the Moon. This was a test mission in preparation for the eventual return of humans to the Moon. Artemis I was a 25-day, 10-hour, 53-minute uncrewed flight test designed to thoroughly evaluate NASA's new Space Launch System (SLS) and Orion spacecraft before sending humans into space. This successful test mission paved the way for the first crewed mission to the Moon since 1972. On April 1, 2026, Artemis 2 launched 4 astronauts for a 9-day mission to orbit the Moon and return to Earth. NASA is preparing future manned missions to the Moon and also has plans for a Moon base. Several other companies, including SpaceX, are also planning manned missions to the Moon. We may also see manned Moon missions from other countries sooner than later.
