Earthrise
This famous view from Apollo 11 shows the Earth rising above the horizon as the spacecraft moves in orbit around the Moon. The lunar terrain pictured here is in the area of Smyth's Sea on the nearside of the Moon. Contrary to popular belief, the Earth does not actually rise on the moon. It remains fixed in the same position in the sky at all times because the Moon always keeps the same face towards the Earth.
