Southern Pinwheel Galaxy

M83, also known as the Southern Pinwheel Galaxy, is a type Sc spiral galaxy located in the constellation of Hydra. This spectacular image of the galaxy was taken at the Kitt Peak 4-meter telescope in 1973.
